Traveling from Malta International Airport

Below are the three main ways to make the trip using ferries, public transport, and ride-hailing services.

Option 1: Via Valletta Fast Ferry (Passenger Only)

This is often the most scenic and efficient route for those without a car.

Gozo Fast Ferry

• Airport to Valletta: Take the TD4 Direct Bus from the airport bus terminal to the Gozo Fast Ferry 
• Alternatively, a Bolt or Uber takes approximately 15–20 minutes.

Gozo Ferry Terminal

• Ferry Crossing: Take the high-speed catamaran to Gozo Ferry Terminal. The trip takes about 45 minutes.
• Mġarr to Marsalforn: From Mġarr, take Bus 322 (direct to Marsalforn) or Bus 301 to Victoria and then change to Bus 310. A cab Bolt or Uber from the ferry terminal to Marsalforn takes about 15 minutes.

Option 2: Via Cirkewwa Connection (Car & Passenger)

This is the standard route and the only option if you are renting a car or arriving late at night.

Cirkewwa Ferry Terminal

• Airport to Cirkewwa: Take Bus X1 or TD1 directly to Cirkewwa Ferry Terminal. By cab (Uber/Bolt/White Taxi), the drive is roughly 45–60 minutes.
• Ferry Crossing: Board the Gozo Channel ferry to Mġarr. This ferry runs 24/7 and takes about 25 minutes.
• Mġarr to Marsalforn: Upon arrival in Gozo, use Bus 322 or a local cab Uber/Bolt to reach the apartments in Marsalforn.

Option 3: Via Sliema Ferry Connection

This route is less common for direct airport transfers but useful if you plan to stop in Sliema first.

• Sliema to Mgarr Gozo: Use the Sliema-Buggiba-Mgarr Ferry Service 

Transportation Tips

• Ride-Hailing: Uber and Bolt are widely available in Malta. A cab from the airport to Cirkewwa typically costs €30–€35, while a cab to Valletta is around €15–€20.
• Public Transport: You can pay the bus driver directly with a contactless card (€2.50) or buy a Tallinja card at the airport Welcomers’ Hall for discounted travel.
• Ferry Tickets: You only pay for the ferry when leaving Gozo (return ticket). The Fast Ferry requires a ticket purchase at the terminal or online before boarding.
